			Plant systematics and evolution
Rapid development in plant systematics and evolution has 
dramatically reshaped our views of organismal relationships and 
evolution. We utilize different approaches (including morphology, 
cytogenetics and molecular data) to study the phylogeny of a few of 
plant groups such as Hystrix, Leymus, Elymus, Kengyilia and Pseudoroegneria in Triticeae. We are also interested in investigating the origin and evolutionary history of Hystrix, Leymus and their related genera.

			Estimate and utility of plant genetic resources.
The genetic resources or genetic diversity within a species
 not only provides the raw material for the future phylogenetic 
relationship and evolution of that species but also a genetic pool of 
hereditary material that can be used in various ways. We utilize 
different approaches (including morphology, cytogenetics and artificial 
hybridization) to creat new material for the utility of plant breeding. 
Estimate and utility of plant genetic resources in our group are focused
 on Triticeae, Iris, Lilium and Hemerocallis.

			Wheat Genetics and Breeding
With the use of current biotechnology coupled with 
traditional approaches, the laboratory is mainly interested in 
chromosomal location and molecular marker of some agronomic traits. At 
the same time, we focus on wheat breeding to improve the yield, quality
