2005-2009 PhD (Molecular Biology), Sichuan Agricultural University
2007-2008 Joint PhD student of 2007 MOE-AAFC PhD Research Program, ECORC, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada

Plant Molecular evolution and phylogeny
Using PCR-RFLP, ccSSR and multiple-gene sequence data, including two chloroplast sequence matK gene and trnL-trnF fragment, ITS fragment of nuclear ribosomal DNA, 5S rRNA gene clone and low copy fragment of LEAFY intron 2 to investigate the molecular evolution and phylogeny of genus Avena L. Now, more than 1000 sequences about Avena accessions have been caught and these sequences are being analyzed
using bioinformatics’ methods to elucidate the diploid donors of the
polyploidy species, the phylogenetic relationships of the species and of
the genomes represented by them.
Plant stress physiology and molecular mechanism
Cold tolerance of oats is a key factor to determine their regional
distribution and production. Using oat cultivated varieties and wild
resources of Avena, selection the cold tolerance species and varieties, and further separation the cold hardiness genes.
